Erin Coombs, on behalf of the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation, spoke in front of 400 Elizabethtown College  Student-Athlete Mentors on the importance of responsible decision making on October 18th. She was invited to speak as a part of the NCAA and TEAM Coalition's Never Drive Drunk campaign. At the end of the seminar, all students in attendance signed the pledge to Never Drive Drunk! The college, which is located in Elizabethtown, Pa., offered laptops to allow audience members to sign the pledge to never drink and drive at bluejaysNDD.org. The Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting responsible drinking and positive fan behavior at the professional and collegiate level of sports, supported both the banner and the pledge. Since its inception in the fall of 2011, the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation has prided itself on "supporting the visionary leaders of tomorrow who display exceptional promise today" via scholarship awards. For 2016, the ETC Foundation distributed a record-breaking $60,500 in total awards during the Foundation's scholarship awards dinner, following the 5th annual golf outing on June 27. ETC Foundation Executive Board Member and spokeswoman Erin Coombs attributed the upswing - from $45,000 in scholarships in 2015 - to finding a "rhythm." "We know what works," Erin said. "We have a very solid support base. People know we're not going anywhere." The Foundation is looking at ways it can expand its reach from the local suburban Philadelphia community where its roots were first planted. The 5th annual Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation Golf Outing reached its capacity for golfers - and scholarship award dinner attendees - and organizers had to turn away last-minute requests to participate.
